Tips For Installing Infinity Car Speakers

Saturday, 14. November 2009 2:10

So you want to enhance the sound quality of your in car stereo system? One of the best ways to do this is to rip out the factory speakers and install one of the many different types of Infinity car speakers instead.

Infinity car audio speakers are designed to produce a reasonable sound volume. You can improve this by adding an amplifier and a subwoofer to your automobile. These two pieces of kit will help to give you a total surround sound effect. You can overdo it though so if the music from your newly installed system sounds rather fuzzy, you should reduce the volume level of the amplifier.

I would definitely leave the amplifier and sub to the experts to install. In fact to be honest, I would let them do the whole lot. But I know some of you will want to replace the speakers yourself. Unless you are mechanically minded, installing speakers may not be as simple as it looks. Although instructions come in the pack, they cannot cover every make and model of car available so may not be as comprehensive as you need them to be.

Don’t forget to disconnect the negative battery lead before you start work. We don’t want any nasty surprises. You should keep the new speakers in their packaging until you are ready for them. They should glide very easily into their new home so never force them or you will end up causing damage.

If you have to cut anything to make room, please be careful with the fuel, hydraulic, electrical and vacuum lines. More than one would be engineer has drilled through these rather important parts of the engine!

If in doubt, don’t try to save a couple of dollars installing your new Infinity Car Speakers yourself but instead ask your local friendly authorized retailer to do it for you.

Infinity Car Speakers Need a Subwoofer Too

Saturday, 14. November 2009 2:09

A subwoofer is an essential component of any automobile sound system. You don’t believe me? Try removing the existing one from your car and see how bad your music sounds. You might be surprised how much difference a bit of bass can make.

But don’t worry. I am not suggesting for one second that you are trying to recapture your lost youth years by waking up your neighbors from a mile away. They are not just used for that purpose, but there is no point telling their teenage owners that as they lost their hearing ages ago.

Everyone needs to fit a subwoofer in their car. It doesn’t matter what style you are into, whether it’s Jazz, Rock and Roll or the latest Hip/Hop, you will still need to hear the bass or you might as well just listen to the chat shows.

Always buy your car parts from recognized dealers. There are far too many hot items on the market right now. If the price of the Infinity car stereo seems too good to be true, then best to walk away as the person selling it just might not be the rightful owner, if you know what I mean.

Fitting an Infinity subwoofer may not always be easy. It depends on how much room there is for it in your trunk as they can take up quite a lot of space. Depending on what type of system was there before, adjustments may be needed. If you are not that mechanical, I would suggest you let the experts fit it. It will be done twice as fast and correctly.

Make sure that they provide a warranty on their services just in case you do have problems. Electronics are notorious for breaking down even those made by reputable companies. If you deal with an authorized dealer you will have no problems getting any issues fixed or finding replacement parts for your Infinity car speakers if required.

Before you go buy your Infinity car speakers or subwoofer you should take a minute to read more of my FREE tips and find out what I look for when I’m shopping online for car audio equipment.

Choosing an Amplifier

Saturday, 14. November 2009 2:09

The addition of an amplifier and suitable speakers can enhance any car audio system. In this article we will cover the most of the decisions that need to be made when choosing an amplifier for your car.

How Much Power?

Some people will say that you can never have enough power! The power output of the amplifier will ultimately govern the maximum volume that will be available in the system. However the power output of the amplifier must be carefully matched to the power that the speakers can handle. The values that should be matched are the RMS output value of the amplifier and the RMS input value of the speakers. Speakers often supply the peak music input power as well but this shouldn’t be confused with the RMS value. The peak value is the power that the speaker can sustain for short bursts but not continuously.

If the RMS input power of the speaker is regularly exceeded then it will lead to premature failure of the speakers which will probably be caused by a mechanical failure.

How Many Channels?

The number of channels correspond to the number of speakers that can be driven from a single amplifier. The most popular choices are either 2 or 4 channels.

4 channel amplifiers often give the ability to create a bridged connection. This is where 2 channels are combined to give approximately twice the output of a single channel. This gives some flexibility in the system for example you could use 2 channels to power the high/mid range speakers and a single bridged channel for the sub-woofer to give some extra depth to the sound.

Amplifier Inputs

One common problem that maybe experienced is when the factory head unit is to be maintained. The input connections to an amplifier usually consist of a set of RCA sockets. If you are lucky the head unit will provide RCA output connections which can be directly connected to the amplifier. In the majority of cases some kind of adapter will be required to reduce the output level of the head unit to a suitable value for the input of the amplifier.

Power Supply

The supply that the amplifier is connected to is vital to ensure a pure clean sound. To get the optimum sound the supply cables should be routed directly to the battery ideally keeping the cables as far from the other cables as possible. This is to prevent any spurious ‘noise’ being picked up which will manifest itself as buzzes, hums and clicks on the audio from the amplifier.

The amplifier itself is switched on and off by connecting the supply usually used for an electric aerial straight to the remote input of the amplifier.

If buzzes, clicks and hums are present on the audio then a choke can be placed in series with the power supply lines which will reduce and hopefully eliminate it.

Location

The final point that shouldn’t be overlooked is the location of the amplifier. The amplifier must be located in a position where it has good airflow to ensure that it doesn’t overheat. In the event of overheating the amplifier will probably shutdown or at worst it will fail.
